Iris Vantieghem

Clinical Psychologist

Iris Vantieghem holds a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology (2011) and a Master's degree in Research Psychology (2012).

Fascinated by sleep medicine and neuroscience, she started her career as a research assistant at the VUB, conducting research on emotion regulation and sleep.

She worked as a sleep psychologist in the sleep unit at UZ Brussel and at AZ Jan Portaels, where she mainly guided clients with chronic insomnia and stress. To this end, she followed additional trainings in the treatment of insomnia (CBT-i) and burnout, as well as in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and broader training in sleep medicine (ULB/ULG/UCL).

Complementary to her clinical work on sleep, she immersed herself in neuroscience/artificial intelligence (KUL). She has participated in projects on mental health and cognitive monitoring in Multiple Sclerosis (National Multiple Sclerosis Center, Myelin-H) and in a project testing new methods to investigate interaction between brain regions (KUL).

At Brainwise, Iris works mainly around sleep, stress and anxiety-related complaints. In her approach, she alternates between cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia and principles from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
